It is necessary to follow each step to make sure your claim will not be denied.  First thing you want to do after a injury at work, is file a report with your supervisor.   This is important in starting a claim correctly.   Secondly, you must then get in contact with your Human Resources Department to inform them of what happened that injured you at work and brief them of your intentions to seeing a doctor to be examined and assessed.  He or she will give you a phone number to direct you to the appropriate work injury claims adjuster to begin the process.  

At this step, it is important that you are aware of your rights.  Your claims adjuster may direct you to their staff doctor without giving you the right to seeing the doctor of your choice.  This is when you inform them of your rights and notify them of who you would like to see.  

If the injury has occurred within 2 weeks, you are automatically approved for preliminary healthcare.  However, if the injury occurred after 2 weeks and a claim has been made, a investigation must be performed and can delay your healthcare coverage and care.
